If you want major medical coverage for doctors visits, hospitalizations, surgeries and such, then the answer is YES.  Unless you're a Medicare or Medicaid recipient, or you're a Veteran or have coverage through a job, then you will have to pay for your own health insurance.  We're able to check for subsidies to help cover the cost of your healthcare, most of the time at $0 dollar cost.  

Whether you're over the age of 65, or under, we can help you get health coverage.  We have access to a wide range of health insurance plans such as HMO, PPO, EPO, and POS plans. We are licensed health insurance brokers with access to most major medical carriers. Just start by letting us know your needs.  

HMO plans typically offer lower out-of-pocket costs, but require you to choose a primary care physician and get referrals for specialists. PPO plans offer more flexibility in choosing healthcare providers, but may have higher out-of-pocket costs.

 As you approach age 65, it’s important to know which enrollment deadlines apply to your circumstances. Begin by checking your eligibility. To avoid costly penalties and gaps in coverage, most people should sign up for Medicare Part A (hospitals) and Part B (doctors) in the seven-month window that starts three months before you turn 65  

Once you’re enrolled in Medicare Part A & Part B, known as Original Medicare, Part B only pays 80% of approved costs in most cases, and some items are not covered such as prescription drugs. The 20% left over is YOUR RESPONSIBILITY. 

You have 2 options to get help with the 20% you are responsible for: 

1. Either a Medicare Advantage Plan, also known as Part C. 

                                       OR 

        2. A Supplement, also known as Medigap.  

                            You can't have both, so choose wisely.  

Know the difference... 

• PART C aka Medicare Advantage:  
• In most areas these plans have a $0 dollar cost 
• Can shop for and choose Medicare advantage plans @ medicare.gov 
• Combines Medicare Part A (Hospital) and Part B (Doctors) into one comprehensive plan. 
• Includes medications (Part D).  
• Most Part C plans offer extra benefits—like vision, hearing, dental, and additional benefits. 

Medigap 

• You will keep original Medicare 
• These plans will have a monthly cost, but they will fill coverage gaps. In other words, they will pay for most things that original Medicare will not. 
• You must shop for these plans through Private Insurance companies, so they are not available at Medicare.gov. 
• Medigap supplemental insurance plans are designed to fill Medicare Part A and Part B coverage gaps, hence the name Medigap. 
• The plans are labeled A, B, C, D, F, G, K, L, M, and N, each with a different standardized coverage. 
• If you do not sign up when you are first eligible for Medicare, there will be underwriting, so coverage is not guaranteed.  But, if you enroll in a Medicare supplement when you first become Medicare eligible, no underwriting is required. 
• There is no need for prior authorization or a referral from a primary care doctor and you can choose any doctor in the U.S. that accepts Medicare. 
• No referral is needed from your primary to see a specialist.  
• Medication (Part D) is not covered, must purchase separately.  
• Does not include vision, dental, or hearing benefits.
